The Week in Shows (April 23-29)

There are five shows on the numismatic calendar this week.

Later this week, on April 29, the Kingston Stamp and Coin Festival will be held at the Ongwanada Centre on 191 Portsmouth Ave. in Kingston, Ont. Both the Kingston Coin Club and Kingston Stamp Club are sponsoring the show, which will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

The show will feature 15 tables of coins and stamps, including club consignment sales. There will also be a “Cover Corner,” where dozens of big boxes of covers from all over the world will be available.

“Feel free to bring anything you like for an informal appraisal,” reads the Kingston Stamp Club website. “There will be professional dealers on hand to let you know if you have something valuable!”

BRIGHTON, ONT.

Also being held April 29 is the 2017 South-Central/Eastern Ontario Coin, Stamp and Postcard Event being held at the King Edward Community Centre on 75 Elizabeth St. in Brighton, Ont. The event will be open the public from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and will feature more than one million worldwide coins, currency banknotes, postage stamps, covers and postcards. Related hobby supplies will also be available at discounted prices.

TIMMINS, ONT.

April 29 is also the date of the Fourth Annual Timmins Coin and Stamp Show, which is being held at the McIntyre Community Centre on 85 McIntyre Rd. in Timmins, Ont. Jointly hosted by the Timmins Coin Club and the Timmins Stamp Club, the show will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

According to organizers, this is Ontario’s “most northern annual coin show and is well attended by collectors around Northeast Ontario.” It features several dealers, silent auctions, exhibit and club tables. Admission and parking are free.

QUEBEC

Also on April 29, the Expo Multi-Collections de Rimouski will be held at Hôtel Rimouski on 225 René Lepage Est. in Rimouski, Que. The show will feature more than 50 tables of merchants and exhibitors of coins, stamps, postcards, sports cards and other material. The bourse will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and admission is free.

NOVA SCOTIA

Rounding out the week in shows is the Central Nova Coin Club Coin Show, which will be held April 29 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Centre on 437 Prince St. in Truro, N.S. The show is hosted by the Central Nova Coin Club in conjunction with the Atlantic Provinces Numismatic Association.
