The Waterloo Coin Society (WCS) is commissioning two new logos for its 65th anniversary, coming in 2024, plus its annual Cambridge Coin Show.
Submissions to both competitions are open through July 31, and the club will hand out a prize – a 1/10th-ounce Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin estimated at $300 – to each winner. “Honourable mention prizes are also available,” according to the club’s March newsletter.
“This is your opportunity to be a visible part of the club’s history as the designer of one or both of these logos. The Cambridge Coin Show logo will be used on all sorts of items to do with the show, possibly even including wood tokens, while the 65th anniversary logo will see plenty of use in 2024 as the club celebrates 65 years of serving collectors in the Region of Waterloo and surrounding areas.”

In early April, the Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) named the WCS – founded in 1959 and a driving force in the ONA’s formation three years later – as its “Club of the Year” for 2023. The WCS previously earned the ONA’s top club honour in 2019 plus a similar award from the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association in 2021, 2009 and 1996.
