TD Bank – based here in Canada but with headquarters in New Jersey – is getting criticism south of the border after its coin-counting machines we found to be inaccurate.
TD has since pulled all of its “Penny Arcade” coin-counting machines, which charge a fee for non-members and were found to be quite inaccurate, miscalculating between $1 and $50 for each customer.
Representatives from TD said the bank continues to inspect the counters.
“All of our coin counting machines are in the process of being taken out of service, and will be evaluated and retested,” reads a statement from TD. “Our machines will be brought back into service when we are satisfied they meet our performance requirements. Additionally, we will be enhancing the routine maintenance and testing of our machines.”
