Simcoe Currency Club holding its first meeting in October

The newly formed Simcoe Currency Club will hold its first meeting this Oct. 4 in Thornton, Ont.

“There isn’t a club in the area,” explains Bill Bischoff, who is co-organizing the new club along with Cassidy Stroud, an active member of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) and Ontario Numismatic Association.

Stroud also serves as the RCNA’s youth co-ordinator.

“We were planning to do this before COVID hit us,” adds Bischoff, the long-time owner of Cookstown Coins. “Now that COVID is behind us, we decided to dust off our plans and get it back on track.”

Bischoff says the club is open to anyone in the community interested in any area of numismatics.

The club, which will hold its meetings on the first Wednesday of each month, will meet at the Thornton Public Library. The meetings will start at 7 p.m.

For more information, contact Bischoff at 705-391-8383.

With a population of more than 300,000, Simcoe County is located in the central portion of Southern Ontario. The county is just north of the Greater Toronto Area, stretching from the shores of Lake Simcoe in the east to Georgian Bay in the west, and includes the cities of Barrie and Orillia.
