Scott Douglas elected as new CAFNE chair

Well-known numismatist and Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) President Scott Douglas was recently elected as the new chair of the Canadian Association for Numismatic Education (CAFNE).

He’s taking over the post from Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) President Robert Forbes, who relinquished his position after coming to the helm of that association this July.

The CAFNE board voted for Douglas as the new chair at the CAFNE board meeting also held in July. A member of the CAFNE board of directors since 2011, Douglas has been heavily involved in numismatics since 1992 and boasts a long list of accomplishments. In addition to heading the ONA, he’s also the current president of the South Wellington Coin Society; first vice-president of the Canadian Paper Money Society; and a board member of the J. Douglas Ferguson Historical Research Foundation.

Douglas has received numerous awards and honours, including the J. Douglas Ferguson Gold Medal in 2018; being inducted as a Fellow of the RCNA in 2012 and a Fellow of the ONA in 2013; and the ONA Award of Merit in 2010.
