Royal Mint issues Olympic coins in support of Team GB

The Royal Mint has issued five million 50p coins in support of its Olympic athletes and in celebration of Britain’s Olympic success.

It’s the only official U.K. coin endorsed by “Team GB.” The reverse design was created by design consultancy Uniform and celebrates the spirit of the British Olympians: these are the men and women who “believe in extraordinary.”

Anne Jessopp, Mint’s director of commemorative coin, said: “We are thrilled to be able to show our support for Team GB in this way, and celebrate the talent, dedication and Olympian spirit of the athletes chosen to represent us in what we hope will be yet another piece of Great British sporting history for the team.”
