RCNA, ONA Fellow Tom Masters dies at 98

Canadian numismatist Tom Masters, of London, Ont., died peacefully at the city’s University Hospital on Feb. 5. He was 98.

A Fellow of both the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association and Ontario Numismatic Association, Masters was also a life member of the latter group, which he served for many years as its librarian, secretary and area director.

In addition to being a founding member and long-time president of the Ingersoll Coin Club, Masters also belonged to several other local clubs, including the London Numismatic Society, Stratford Coin Club and Woodstock Coin Club.

In 1943, Masters married his wife Ida, who died in February 2019. The couple celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2018, and they were both long-time collectors.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Masters’ memory is asked by the family to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Tom was a kind and soft spoken gentlemen who was respected by many and his involvement also extended to other clubs not mentioned such as the Waterloo Coin Society. He will certainly be missed and remembered for his contributions to the hobby.
