Noted numismatist Scott Douglas has resigned after three years as the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) education committee chair.
Among the highlights of his stint is the co-ordination of a two-day, eight-speaker educational symposium held at the annual RCNA Convention.
Douglas, who’s also the current president of the Ontario Numismatic Association as well as the South Wellington Coin Society, said this year’s symposium was well received by attendees and “saw the biggest numbers we’ve ever had.”
“The feedback I was getting all weekend – not just from the RCNA executive, but the people that were attending – was great. They were all quite pleased with the subjects and the individuals speaking. I couldn’t be happier; I think it was the best one ever,” said Douglas, who added there were routinely more than 50 people in attendance.
DISTINGUISHED NUMISMATIST
At this year’s convention, Douglas also received the highest award in Canadian numismatics, the J. Douglas Ferguson Award.
“Scott has done an excellent job over the last three years in his role and he will be hard to replace,” wrote RCNA President Henry Nienhuis in the October/November issue of the Canadian Numismatic Journal.
