Brantford police have arrested a 29-year-old man and laid multiple charges following the discovery of counterfeit currency and counterfeiting equipment during a two-day investigation.
The incident began on May 3, when officers responded to reports of an unconscious man in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle on Darling Street. Police located the man, who was unable to produce proof of insurance and was found to be violating several driving suspensions and court-ordered prohibitions. During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered a large quantity of counterfeit money in his possession.
The investigation continued the following day, May 4, when members of the Brantford Police Service Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit, General Investigations Unit, and Uniform Patrol executed a search warrant at a Marlborough Street residence. The search turned up a significant quantity of evidence related to the production of counterfeit currency, including multiple printers, holographic paper, a heat press, a bundle of counterfeit bills, and electronic devices.
The 29-year-old Brantford man is now facing several charges, including possessing counterfeit money, making counterfeit money, and possessing instruments for counterfeiting, alongside driving-related and probation violations. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
