It’s still about two months away, but the organizer of a pair of shows in southwestern Ontario has cancelled his February 2021 events due to COVID-19.
Both the Canada Coin Show – slated for Feb. 6 in Brantford, Ont., with a sale by Geoffrey Bell Auctions (GBA) – and the Paris Coin Show slated for Feb. 7 in nearby Paris are cancelled as social restrictions are reintroduced across the province.
“The Paris Coin Show has worked closely with the venues to make our winter shows a reality, but it is not possible at this time,” reads a joint statement issued by show organizer Jared Stapleton and GBA auctioneer Brian Bell on
“Numismatic events all over the world continue to be cancelled during these unprecedented times. We feel for everyone that has been affected by this situation, our heart goes out to you.”
While the shows are cancelled, the Feb. 6 auction will be held from GBA headquarters in Moncton, N.B. The single live session begins that day at 5 p.m. (ET), and all lots can be viewed at gbellauctions.com.
“Every indication points to a continued thriving numismatic market in Canada,” adds Stapleton and Bell’s joint statement. “The great news is that not all of the numismatic activities we’ve planned have been halted during this social distancing period.”
Bell is still seeking consignments for the upcoming auction. To consign items, contact him at 1-506-333-7778 or info@gbellauctions.com.
