The Ontario Numismatic Association (ONA) has begun accepting nominations for its two annual honours, the Award of Merit and the Fellow of the ONA.
The awards, whose nomination deadline is Feb. 28, recognize “numismatists who have made contributions towards the advancement of numismatics, either throughout Ontario or at the local club level,” according to ONA awards committee chair Scott Douglas.
ONA members are now invited to nominate recipients, who also must be members of the provincial organization, with “a full summary of the nominees’ numismatic achievements and contributions …,” Douglas added.
The recipients, to be unveiled during a banquet at the annual ONA Convention, will receive an engraved silver medal, an inscribed certificate, an engraved metallic name badge and a complimentary seat at the banquet.
“Nominees should be well rounded in all phases of numismatics,” said Douglas, who added the nominations should highlight local coin club work, numismatic community work, numismatic education, regional numismatic involvement and any past awards or honours.
The awards committee, which includes four past Award of Merit recipients plus the ONA president, will choose the winners from the submitted nominees.
One Award of Merit and up to three Fellow of the ONA recipients will be chosen.
Full details are provided in the January-February 2022 issue of the Ontario Numismatist, the ONA’s bimonthly journal.
