Nominations called for SWCS executive

The South Wellington Coin Society (SWCS) is calling for nominations for its next executive as the three-year term of its current executive is slated to end on June 30.

The positions on the SWCS board of directors, which set officers’ guidelines but are not involved in day-to-day operations outside of education programs and contracts for venues and insurance, include:

  • chairman;
  • directors;
  • director emeritus; and
  • director of youth services.

The SWCS officers, which run the society’s day-to-day operations, include:

  • president;
  • past-president;
  • vice-president;
  • treasurer;
  • secretary; and
  • newsletter/flyer distribution.

“You may nominate yourself  or another SWCS member (who is willing to stand),” reads the April 2018 issue of The Wellington Circular. “If you would like to try one of the roles, or if you are currently performing one of the roles and wish to continue, let Scott [Douglas, society president,] know. It takes a family to keep a coin club successful. Don’t be shy, give something a try, even if you only want to be mentored for the role in the future, share that too. Having trained backups for all roles, gives a club strength.”

The deadline for nominations is April 30. Nominees will be received at the society’s May meeting.

“If more than one person is up for the same role, then an election will be held at our June meeting (our annual pizza night),” reads The Wellington Circular. “If there is only one, that person will be acclaimed and announced at our June meeting.”
