On March 14, the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing began accepting orders for its latest set of collect coins: the America’s Founding Fathers 2017 Currency Set, which includes a pair of bills with matching serial numbers beginning with 2017.
Each historic set features a Series 2013 $1 and $2 note from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York bearing the portraits of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, respectively, with matching serial numbers beginning with 2017. This set is packaged in a tri-fold folder and each note is protected by a clear, acid-free polymer sleeve. Its left- and right-side panels offer information about the bills and their engravings.
The set is issued annually, and since 2014 has been priced at $21.95 USD.
ORDERING
Currency sets from previous years sold out, and usually quickly. Their limits have varied over the years. The BEP will sell up to 5,000 sets this year, matching the limits from the previous two years. The newest set will only be offered during the 2017 calendar year.
In the pre-release period, which ended yesterday, sales were limited to 25 sets a household.
Today, as long as any remain, collectors can order as many as they want with bulk pricing of $18.95 USD for quantities of 50 or more.
