National Postage Stamp & Coin Show continues today

Today is the final day of Trajan Media’s two-day National Postage Stamp and Coin Show, and there’s no shortage of excitement on the bourse with about 50 dealers, a children’s table and an afternoon full of presentations slated to take place.

Held at the Hilton Mississauga, the two-day show is hosted by Trajan Media, publisher of Canadian Coin News and Canadian Stamp News. A full list of dealers can be found here. The show opens today at 10 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

MEET THE TRENDS EDITOR

Today’s seminars include a “Meet the Trends editor” session with new editor Michael Findlay. The Trends section of Canadian Coin News is a popular and important section of the bi-weekly magazine. Earlier this year, long-time numismatist Michael Findlay, owner of Certified Coins of Canada and current president of the Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers (CAND), returned to his former role of Trends editor. Findlay, a native of Angus, Ont., previously served as editor of Trends in 2009-10.

Trends editor Michael Findlay can also be found on the bourse as Certified Coins of Canada.

“We are happy Michael has returned to CCN as the Trends’ editor,” said Walsh. “This will not be a formal presentation. Instead, it will be an opportunity for collectors and dealers to have a casual conversation with Michael regarding any questions they may have about Trends.”

As Findlay has a table at the show, this seminar will start at 9 a.m. outside of the bourse floor in the speaker area. The bourse will not open to the public until 10 a.m.

LIGHTHOUSE PRESENTATION

At 11 a.m., Daniel Roettele, senior national sales manager at Lighthouse Canada, will lead a seminar on setting up and using optical aids such as microscopes, ultra-violet lights, watermark detectors and magnifiers. Roettele began his career with Lighthouse at the mother firm in Germany, Leuchtturm. He accepted a transfer to Canada to aid the sales, product development and marketing force.

FREE PARKING

Parking at the Hilton is free for all show attendees. Do not pay the parking meters as the hotel will not issue refunds. Instead, register your licence plate at the admission desk.

NEXT YEAR’S AUCTION

There’s no auction at the Fall Show; however, Colonial Acres, of Kitchener, Ont., will be presenting a coin and stamp auction at the Spring Show on April 7-8, 2018.
