The Royal Canadian Mint’s June numismatic catalogue is brimming with excitement, featuring six new coins and a stunning eight-coin puzzle proof set that revisits a popular series last seen in 2023.
Among the highlights, collectors will find imaginative designs and cutting-edge technologies that celebrate everything from celestial cycles to Canada’s highest court.
The centrepiece of this month’s releases is the “Moon Phases” puzzle proof set, a striking arrangement of one central $50 coin and seven surrounding $20 puzzle-shaped pieces, all crafted in 99.99 per cent pure silver with selective black rhodium plating. This year’s set, with a limited mintage of just 1,100, marks the first time the Mint has used black rhodium in a puzzle set, adding drama to the moonlit scenes designed by Montréal’s Caitlin Lindstrom-Milne and Steven Rosati.
Among the six single coins in the June catalogue, the $20 Fine silver “Moon Sky: Raven” coin stands out with its innovative hologram technology. Created in collaboration with Nunatsiavut artist Bronson Jacque, the design captures the mystical power of storytelling through a hologram-enhanced raven that glimmers with rainbow hues.
The Mint also continues its award-winning “Allegory” series with a $50 Fine silver issue, “Allegories of Justice and Truth,” honouring the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada. The dual-sided allegory design, selectively plated with yellow gold and showcasing the statues of Veritas and Justitia, underscores the institution’s role in shaping Canadian life and law.
For those seeking an exceptional luxury piece, the catalogue also includes a $500 gold coin dubbed “Heart Diamond.” As the fifth and final release in the Mint’s celebrated diamond-shaped series, it features a genuine 0.23-carat “Ideal Cut Heart Diamond” certified by the De Beers Institute of Diamonds – a dazzling tribute to Canada’s artistry and technical mastery.
