After an “overwhelmingly positive” response following the announcement of a public design contest in October, Kagin’s has announced it will extend the competition’s deadline to Jan. 15, 2017.
Kagin’s—the official auctioneer for the American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) 2017 National Money Show— is holding a contest to choose the cover of the auction catalogue for next year’s sale. Until Jan. 15, 2017, contestants can submit their original compositions for a chance to win $5,000 USD as well as an opportunity to have their design be a part of this historic numismatic event, which will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., on March 9-11.
Any medium—such as paintings, sketches or digital works— will be accepted. The contest is open to everyone, and an independent review panel will choose the winning design.
OFFICIAL ‘MONEY SHOW’ AUCTIONEER
In October, Kagin President Don Kagin said his team was “honoured and thrilled” to once again be selected as the ANA’s official auctioneer.
“We want to encourage everyone—young artists to professionals from inside or outside our numismatic community,” said Kagin. “We believe numismatics is fun, educational and exciting and want to use this opportunity to demonstrate to the art and auction world how imaginative and cutting edge numismatics can be.”
An independent panel including ANA Past President Kenneth Bresset; Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee Chair Mary Lannin; Numismatic News Editor David Harper; The Numismatist Editor Barbara Gregory; and sculptor Heidi Wastweet will review and choose the winning design.
Contestants are invited to submit up to three entries to nina@kagins.com by Jan. 15, 2017.
