It was 1955 when Mervyn Weynton and Palmer Dahl held the first meeting of the Victoria Numismatic Society in the ornate Spencer Mansion, now the site of the Art Gallery of Victoria. More recently, the club has been meeting every month, except in summer, on the upper floor of a local church. The goal has always been to encourage and promote the collection of coins, tokens, medals, and paper money, and to assist collectors. Part of its mission is also to generate public interest in numismatics which is why the club welcomes anyone with an interest in coins, beginners or advanced collectors, to attend any of its meetings.
