The Edmonton Numismatic Society (ENS) has named Andy Bailes as its new president.
A coin collector since his teenage years while living in England, Bailes began with British farthings dated from 1714 through the end of their issuance in 1956.
“It took me over two decades to get that collection together,” said Bailes, who left the coins behind for his children when he moved to Canada. “My current focus is Crusader coins of the Latin Kingdom. I am hoping that, with the knowledge and experience of the new executive and directors, we can take the baton and move forward, allowing the club to grow with renewed success in the years to come.”
The ENS executive also includes:
- Vice-President Tom Woznow;
- Treasurer Henry Nagtegaal;
- Secretary Mitch Goudreau;
- newsletter editor Joe Kennedy; and
- past president Marc Bink.
The club also has 10 general directors plus a youth director, a webmaster, a social media manager and a trio of bourse chairs for the annual ENS shows, held each spring and fall.
