On June 20, Canadian Coin News will attend a “special preview” of the new Bank of Canada Museum hosted by Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz.
The event will be held beneath the plaza of the bank’s headquarters at 30 Bank St. (on the corner of Bank and Wellington streets). Among the special guests from the government, business and tourism sectors will be Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. The museum is slated to open to the public on July 1.
After brief welcoming remarks, CCN will tour the galleries and interact with the exhibits along museum planners and guides as well as other guests. We will publish a full review in the next issue of CCN.

MANDATE & MISSION
According to the museum’s website, its mandate is “to provide Canadians with a public space where they are encouraged to learn about the policies and functions of the Bank of Canada and gain an understanding of the Bank’s role in guiding the Canadian economy, and to foster and grow the National Currency Collection.” Its mission is “to creatively bring the work of the Bank of Canada to Canadians by demystifying the Bank’s key functions and interpreting Canada’s monetary heritage; and to provide access to Canada’s National Currency Collection.”
