CCG London office opens

The Certified Collectibles Group (CCG) opened its new office in London, England earlier this week.

The London office is located in the fashionable Bloomsbury district in the city’s West End. The office occupies the third floor of the building that houses the headquarters of Spink, a prominent auction house; however, the CCG and Spink spaces will be completely independent.

“We look forward to serving collectors and dealers based not only in the United Kingdom but also those who visit from other countries,” said Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG. “As our fifth global location, our London office furthers our efforts to make it easier to access our expert and impartial services.”

Operated by NGC International UK (NGC UK), the office will accept submissions for five independent members of CCG:

  • Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC);
  • Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS);
  • Paper Money Guaranty (PMG);
  • Certified Guaranty Company (CGC); and
  • Classic Collectible Services (CCS).

NGC, PMG and CGC are the world’s largest third-party coin, banknote and comic book certification services, respectively. Each company employs a team of specialists who authenticate collectibles, assign a grade on an internationally recognized scale and then encapsulate the collectibles in secure holders designed for long-term preservation.

Collectibles certified by NGC, PMG and CGC are backed by the respective company’s guarantee.

These companies focus solely on providing expert and impartial certification services for collectibles. None of the CCG companies buy or sell collectibles, and their employees are prohibited from dealing in collectibles. In addition, their graders never know the identity of a collectible’s submitter—another measure to prevent any conflict of interest.

Together, the companies have certified more than 50 million collectibles.

In addition to certification services, CCG provides professional coin conservation services and professional comic book conservation and restoration services through its independent member companies NCS and CCS, respectively.

‘COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES’

NGC UK will “provide comprehensive services for submitters,” according to a recent statement issued by CCG.

Collectibles submitted to NGC UK will be transported with full insurance coverage (based on the submitter’s declared value) to the CCG companies in the U.S. for authentication, grading and encapsulation. The collectibles are then transported back to NGC UK to be delivered to the submitter. NGC UK provides the shipping and insurance and also handles customs clearance.

Submissions can be made by appointment to the NGC UK office or to NGC UK representatives at the various coin, paper money and comics shows in the U.K. NGC UK accepts submissions from paid collector members and authorized dealers.

To join, visit NGCcoin.uk/joinPMGnotes.uk/join or CGCcomics.uk/join. One membership entitles you to submit coins, paper money and comic books.
