All Nations to host special Canada Day sale

All Nations Stamp & Coin plans to offer 156 lots in tribute to the country’s 156 years in a special Canada Sale on July 1.

The sale centres on four rare promissory notes from the Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) issued in London, England, between 1820 and 1871 with one of them – Lot 129 – signed by Governor George Simpson.

The Canada Day sale will also feature 100 lots of mainly 19th-century stamps and postal history, including Pence, Jubilees and semi-official airmail issues. British Columbia stamps and postcards round out the first portion while 56 lots of coins and banknotes, including two different 1947 silver dollars, Great Britain and U.S. coins used in colonial Canada, close out the sale alongside a range of Bank of Canada notes preceded by the four different HBC scrip.

Earlier this year, All Nations drew a record number of bidders in its March milestone auction, the firm’s 1,400th in more than 26 years, with realizations nearing 110 per cent of the pre-sale estimates.
