Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) is delaying a decision about its 2024 convention host until February.
If next year’s convention – slated for July 20-25 in Ottawa – is cancelled because of the pandemic, the nation’s capital may be bumped until 2024.
This year’s convention was slated for Halifax, which will now host the 2023 event.
The 2022 convention is pencilled in for Lévis, Qué.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding 2024, the Manitoba Coin Club (MCC) has already put its hat in the ring for that year’s convention, which would also mark the club’s 70th anniversary. The MCC has created a special committee comprised of Larry Dalman, David Northcott and Patrick Chiasson.
Other local clubs are also expected to prepare bids to host the 2024 RCNA Convention if next year’s event is held in Ottawa as planned.
