U.S. collector Bob Fritsch, a long-time member of the New Hampshire’s Nashua Coin Club – the Ontario Numismatic Association’s 2021 “Club of the Year” – has issued his 2022 wood with a pandemic theme.
The obverse reads “THE LIGHT AT THE / END OF THE TUNNEL” with a train in the centre while the reverse adds “ROBERT F. FRITSCH / NASHUA, NH” flanked by the 2022 year-date plus the phrase “THE NEW / NORMAL.”
The Old Time Wooden Nickel Company, of San Antonio, Texas, produced the 38-millimetre woods in red, blue, green and black with 250 examples made in each colour.
A director of the Canadian Association of Wooden Money Collectors, Fritsch also belongs to dozens of other local, regional, national and international numismatic organizations. In 2018, he marked his 50th anniversary in the hobby.
